The primary function of the Bus Cleaner is to provide routine general cleaning tasks to the interior and exterior of all Agency vehicles in a safe manner. Furthermore, the position supports ACT's purpose and objectives by respecting and adhering to all policies and procedures of the Agency.


Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

• Cleans interior of the vehicle to include mopping floors, washing interior windows and vacuuming seats.
• Removes trash and cleans bodily fluids from interior of vehicle.
• Cleans and washes exterior of vehicles as directed.
• Inspects vehicle for body damage and noting when appropriate.
• Stays current on latest practices as applicable to the Agency's needs including proper safety practices.
• Keeps his/her workplace clean and safe.
• Assists fueling crew in cleaning exterior of vehicles as needed.
• Be aware of the potential safety and security factors throughout the transit facility and to follow all applicable policies and procedures of the Agency. Responsible to report any known or potential safety and/or security factor immediately to an appropriate supervisor, including any employee not following the policies and/or safety procedures.
• Attends work regularly.

Nonessential Functions

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School education or equivalent.
• Must have ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Skilled in the use and operation of various hand and power tools.
• Possess knowledge of proper safety precautions and use of safety equipment.
• Possess valid driver's license.
• Clean and neat appearance.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Normal working conditions for this position are inside a bus with air conditioning and heat. The position is exposed to high noise levels, oil, grease, fuels and all types of weather conditions. Capacity to work beyond standard hours when needed to address cleaning needs.

Physical requirements of the position include full range of motion in all extremities. Must have ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 pounds (e.g., a 5-gallon mop bucket full of water). Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, walk at least one mile; climb normal building stairs and climb 11" rise in stairs of buses. Must be able to work standing on feet.
