Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients. The University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine in Ohio is offering a full-time Cardiothoracic Radiology Faculty position in the Department of Radiology. This position will support the University's mission and commitment to excellence in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

Our affiliated University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC) and other UC Health facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art radiography, CT, and MR equipment, and support PACS and voice recognition dictation. Home workstation equipment is provided. UCMC provides an excellent working environment. The Radiology Cardiothoracic section has a close working relationship and interacts with expert cardiologists, pulmonologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and subspecialists in other fields of medicine. Interdisciplinary conferences encompass a broad spectrum of comprehensive structural heart programs, lung programs, including interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, lung cancer screening, and general pulmonary pathology. A full medical 3D printing service supports our section, and our clinical colleagues benefit from printed or virtual 3D models for their complex cases. We see the full spectrum of pathology as part of a Level 1 Trauma center and are home to the city's major cancer center. We also participate in a thriving and growing Lung Cancer Screening Program.

UCMC is making huge investments in medical research. We have a strong basic science division with strength in MRI physics. Research coordinator and biostatistical support for clinical faculty research projects are provided.

The Cardiothoracic Imaging section is a collegial, collaborative group engaged in all aspects of cardiac and thoracic imaging including radiography, chest CT and MRI and Cardiac CTA and MRI. We participate in a robust Lung Cancer Screening program and have strong collaborative clinical partners. We participate in weekly multi-disciplinary conferences including structural heart, ILD and thoracic oncology. Research opportunities are available and supported by a dedicated research section. The section is involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows from radiology and other specialties such as internal medicine and pulmonary medicine. We are home to a vibrant residency program with 8 residents joining us every year. Our non-ACGME accredited cardiothoracic fellowship program accepts one fellow per year.

This position offers work flexibility with options of fully remote and Hybrid Schedule. We also offer the option of flexible scheduling in terms of working hours and days of the week. We understand the unique needs of remote faculty; and are therefore, developing a remote faculty section and a faculty development and mentoring track for fully remote/ hybrid early career academic faculty. All faculty on academic track are offered academic time.

Essential Functions

  • Duties will include responsibilities for the clinical, research and teaching activities for our students, residents and fellows.
  • Job responsibilities are 80% clinical, 20% teaching with 75% of time spent over-reading residents and fellows.

Minimum Requirements

  • Medical degree (MD or DO or equivalent) or foreign equivalent.
  • Ohio medical license.
  • Completion of four years Radiology residency training/post-graduate training.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Expertise in cardiac and/or thoracic imaging.
  • Cardiothoracic fellowship training of one year.
