Job Description

Under the supervision of the IT Manager, the Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for the implementation, training, and maintenance of all Meditech clinical modules, as well as coordination with non-clinical modules such as BAR. Maintains and updates all user access for Meditech. The CIC is responsible for implementing projects and processes to meet Meaningful Use requirements, including ePrescribe and Patient Portal. Responsibilities may also include pulling reports, collecting data, and analyzing information as directed by the IT Manager or CNO. The Clinical Informatics Specialist projects a professional demeanor and appearance, maintains patient, coworker, and facility confidentiality, and adheres to HIPAA policies. The CIC reports any suspected activity that violates laws, regulations, or the SP Code of Conduct. The role requires fulfilling annual continuing education and mandatory requirements. Personal attributes include being self-directed, accountable, professional, receptive to change, seeking guidance when needed, and working under stress with patience and tact. The CIC fosters teamwork, prioritizes tasks, responds promptly to issues, and ensures follow-through to achieve desired results. Location: This position requires on-site presence at least 75% of the time. The patient population served includes individuals aged 12 years and older, from adult to geriatric patients requiring pain management or surgical intervention. Physical Requirements: Use assistive devices when lifting exceeds 35 lbs or pushing/pulling more than 58 lbs (OSHA). The work involves walking or standing most of the time, with visual, auditory acuity, and manual dexterity essential. The environment is clean, neat, and well-lit. The role may involve exposure to unpleasant sights, odors, stressful situations, and infectious agents, requiring appropriate precautions. Hours may be irregular or extended as needed. OSHA Exposure Classification: Job Category I: Direct contact with blood or body fluids; PPE is provided and mandatory. Qualifications: Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field. Knowledge of professional standards, Joint Commission Standards, and regulations. Some prior knowledge of Meditech modules (required), preferably PCS or ORM. At least 3 years of hospital experience (required). Effective interpersonal skills. Basic computer literacy. Ability to understand written and oral instructions. Strong communication skills. Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. Preferred: Master's degree in Informatics or related field. 2-4 years experience with clinical information systems, including EHR support. Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards. Willingness to participate in professional development activities. Ability to work remotely part-time after training, with required in-facility hours.
