Commercial Estimator:

Position Summary:

Chesapeake Search Partners has been retained by a full-service commercial and industrial roofing specialist. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Roofing Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial roofing projects, ensuring alignment with project specifications, budgets, and company goals. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and labor costs, as well as the ability to read blueprints and communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze plans, specifications, and scope of work for commercial roofing bids
• Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Perform on-site evaluations and inspections as needed to support accurate proposals
• Collaborate with project managers, sales staff, vendors, and subcontractors to gather necessary bid data
• Develop bid packages and proposals in a timely and professional manner
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, and post-bid reviews
• Track and manage bid submissions, outcomes, and follow-ups
• Maintain updated knowledge of roofing systems, safety standards, materials, and industry pricing trends
• Assist in value engineering and proposal adjustments to meet customer budgets or project changes
• Ensure estimating procedures and cost databases are consistently maintained and improved

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial roofing estimating (tear-offs, re-roofs, new construction)
• Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems and components (TPO, EPDM, PVC, SSMR, edge metals, etc.)
• Water proofing and metal wall panels are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings/specs
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Edge Estimating, Excel, or similar tools)
• Strong analytical, written, verbal and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously
