Position Summary:
The Welder I is responsible for assembly, tack and Mig welding of iso-bend pipe, fittings, and special products to engineering and customer supplied specifications.
Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to): \n - Visually inspect all components prior to assembly for compliance to work order specifications, and for burrs, defects, and cleanliness.
\n - Calculate the cut length of iso-bend pipe to achieve the correct finish length and mark the cut-off points.
\n - Secure iso-bend pipe and cut to length with pipe cutting tool.
\n - Set-up pipes sever machine and cut pipe to length without cutting the liner.
\n - Install the correct flange/stub end combination and weld pipe housing in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
\n - Recheck overall spool length with allowance for liner thickness and complete the inspection sheet.
\n - Assemble and tack weld fitting and special products using a press or other appropriate tooling.
\n - Weld fittings and special products complete in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
\n - Perform all welding in the position as specified by the Procedure and welder qualification.
\n - Set-up welders with correct filler wire and compressed gas at the proper pressure setting.
\n - When required, assemble, tack and tig weld fittings in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
\n - Use blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering or customer supplied drawings and specifications.
\n - Use ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
\n - Verify protective shield and restricted area signs are in place before welding.
\n - Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and carts.

Essential Qualifications / Experience: \n - High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
\n - Must be able to lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance, any parts weighing over 50lbs requires a team lift.
\n - Fabrication experience and the ability to work from blueprints and sketches.
\n - Must pass Crane welding qualifications test, which includes a plate test (fillit welds) on an 8-inch coupon, schedule 40 pipe, open root, 3 passes (root downhill, hot pass uphill, cover pass uphill, and must pass X-ray requirements.

Preferred Qualifications / Experience: \n - Five or more years welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
\n - ASME Section IX MIG certification or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable period.
\n - Three or more years' experience with carbon steel.
