Are you a dependable problem-solver who enjoys helping people on the road? Join our team as a  Roadside Assistance Technician serving the charleston, sc area. In this self-managed, field-based role, you will respond to drivers in need of battery jumps and replacements, flat tire changes, vehicle lockouts, and other minor roadside services. We provide a  company service truck (take-home)and offer flexible shift options (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts) to fit your lifestyle. Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to dispatch calls for roadside assistance in the Charleston area, arriving on-time to assist stranded motorists.

  • Perform battery services: test batteries, provide jump-starts, and  install new batteries on-site when needed (includes advising customers and  selling batteries as appropriate).

  • Change flat tires safely and efficiently, including swapping in spares or repairing minor tire issues when possible.

  • Unlock vehicles (Lockouts): expertly use lockout tools to open vehicles without damage when keys are locked inside.

  • Jump starts & minor troubleshooting: diagnose common “no-start” issues (battery vs. alternator, etc.) and get vehicles running if possible.

  • Safety and customer service: ensure the safety of the customer and their vehicle at all times, and provide a calm, friendly customer experience during what may be a stressful situation.

  • Maintain logs and reports: document services provided (battery tests, tire changes, etc.) using a smartphone app or paperwork, and capture any sales or customer signatures as required.

  • Upkeep of vehicle and equipment: keep your  company truck clean, organized, and stocked with tools, batteries, and supplies. Perform basic pre-shift checks (fuel, tire pressure, oil) and report any maintenance needs.

  • Professional representation: adhere to company standards for  appearance (wear provided uniform or appropriate attire) and conduct, as you are the face of our company in the field.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License (Georgia or reciprocal) and a  clean driving record (no DUIs or serious moving violations).

  • Ability to safely drive and operate a service truck;  safe driving habits are essential.

  • Reliability and accountability: must be punctual,  responsible in completing jobs independently, and able to be trusted with a company vehicle and equipment.

  • Good  organizational skills to manage your workflow, tools, and inventory of batteries/parts on the truck.

  • Basic technical literacy: comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for dispatch instructions, GPS navigation, and reporting job details.

  • Customer-service mindset: polite, compassionate, and able to reassure customers; good communication skills to explain issues and solutions.

  • Appearance: Neat and professional personal appearance; willingness to adhere to hygiene and dress standards.

  • Physical ability: able to lift a car battery or tire (approximately 40-50 lbs), kneel/bend to change tires, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

  • Schedule flexibility: available to work an 8, 10, or 12-hour shift , which may include nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

  • Background: Must pass a standard background check and motor vehicle report. (Note: A past  felony conviction is  not an automatic disqualifier – we consider qualified applicants on a case-by-case basis. A strong work ethic and honesty are what matter to us.)

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Prior experience in roadside assistance, automotive repair, or tire/brake shops.

  • Basic mechanical skills or knowledge of car systems (electrical, tire changing, tools usage).

  • Sales experience or comfort with upselling products (for battery sales and related services).

Disqualifiers (Do  Not Apply If...)

This position  will not be a good fit for you if:

  • You have  poor personal hygiene or an unprofessional appearance (we maintain a clean, customer-facing image).

  • You  lack motivation or initiative and require constant supervision (this role is highly independent).

  • You have  poor problem-solving skills or cannot think on your feet to troubleshoot issues.

  • You have a history of  reckless driving (e.g. frequent speeding tickets or accidents).

  • You  frequently call off work or have unreliable attendance patterns.

  • You are careless with equipment or vehicles (e.g. prone to  damaging cars or tools due to negligence).

  • You do not  take pride in your work or in keeping a company vehicle clean and presentable.

We strongly encourage only serious, qualified candidates to apply. If any of the above issues describe you, this is likely not the right job for you.
