Overview Tobacco Cessation Health Coach - Keep It Sacred Program Join to apply for the Tobacco Cessation Health Coach - Keep It Sacred Program role at National Jewish Health. WORK FROM HOME - FULL TIME. Remote positions are available for candidates located in CO, TX, WI, MN, AZ, CA, IL, FL, VA, HI, OK and NY. Position Summary This position obtains participant details and provides assessment, counseling, education and behavioral intervention to tobacco users. This position directly assists cultural groups by using motivational interviewing techniques in deciding whether to make a quit attempt, obtaining and using cessation medicine and staying abstinent from tobacco products. Counseling is conducted over the phone and/or through the internet with participants. The Keep It Sacred program, operated by National Jewish Health, aims to decrease commercial tobacco use and cancer health disparities among American Indians and Alaska Natives (AI/AN) across the U.S. The selected candidate will coach American Indian participants and create personalized plans to help them quit using tobacco products. Essential Duties Completes an intake questionnaire with participants to verify program eligibility. Documents participant data in compliance with HIPAA requirements, departmental standards and client guidelines. Maintains friendly, confident, open, and effective communication with participants to identify program eligibility, inspire continued participation, determine goals and readiness to change, and support behavior change. Educates and coaches a diverse population of participants in quitting tobacco by following motivational interviewing techniques. Explains Health Initiatives programs to participants, builds rapport, and engages callers following guidelines, protocols and scripting. Engages in continuous training, learning, and professional growth including QA scores and feedback to ensure delivery of evidence-based practices, content knowledge and skills. May lead assigned projects or tasks. Maintains call center metrics and individual performance standards. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Work Experience: A minimum of one year experience as a health coach preferred. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Cultural competency or familiarity with the American Indian community highly preferred. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $20.69 - $27.36 per hour.
