Description Boone Memorial Health is seeking a reliable and compassionate Patient Transporter to join our Surgery Department. In this essential role, you will assist in safely and efficiently moving patients to and from surgery, supporting surgical staff with patient care needs, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. Who We Are Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is a growing, rural Critical Access Health System located in Madison, West Virginia. At the core of our system is a 25-bed inpatient hospital with a 24/7 Emergency Department, designated as a Level IV Trauma Center. Qualifications Required: - High school diploma or equivalent
- BLS certification (or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work in a physically demanding and emotionally sensitive environment
Preferred: - One (1) year experience in a healthcare or surgical setting
Key Responsibilities - Safely transport patients to and from surgery, recovery rooms, and other departments
- Assist patients with entering and exiting stretchers, beds, or wheelchairs
- Support surgical team by preparing transport equipment and verifying patient identification
- Provide physical and emotional support to patients during transport
- Handle lab specimens and medical supplies as needed
- Keep stretchers, wheelchairs, and other transport tools clean and functional
- Deliver equipment and assist with general organization within the Surgery Department
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and adhere to hospital safety and infection control procedures
