Job Summary:
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a vital role in supporting safe surgical and procedural care. Under the supervision of the Sterile Processing Supervisor, this position is responsible for cleaning, preparing, and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital policies and industry standards. The technician will transport soiled and sterile instrumentation, maintain competency in sterile processing procedures, and communicate effectively with the sterile processing team, operating room staff, and leadership. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the SPD Supervisor, charge technician, or Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow all hospital and department policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Clean, decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays.
  • Safely transport soiled instruments to the department and deliver sterile sets to designated areas.
  • Maintain knowledge and competency in sterile processing techniques, sterilization methods, and infection control guidelines.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of instrument processing.
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers, leadership, and OR personnel to support workflow and patient care needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile processing or a related role.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
    • CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician) encouraged within 18 months of hire.

Assignment Details:

  • 13-week contract
  • Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Holiday coverage required
  • No state licensure required
  • EMR: Not specified
